In our online gallery we show carefully curated works from the fields of Concrete Art, Minimal Art, Colour Painting and modern abstract art as well as selected photography.

Art must be experienced live! Of course. But you can also buy art online. The art market is changing and art is increasingly consumed and purchased online. Our online gallery takes this development into account. We bring collectors and artists together. Where art is happening more and more often: on the internet. Find selected positions of exciting newcomers and established artists.

Whatever you find with us: the price of a work of art. We do not hide this information as you may know it from established galleries but communicate it openly. We also offer editions made exclusively for Blank Contemporary – the inexpensive introduction to art collecting.

The Online Gallery for modern art

The access and reception of modern, contemporary art has changed radically in the age of digitalization. Artists market themselves via social media and websites, collectors search online for art they like. The input is huge, as is the output of the artists. The digital over-information ultimately causes a stimulus satiation. This is where Blank Contemporary comes in as an online gallery for carefully curated art. We do not serve a mass market and are not an art department store or a pure sales platform where anyone can post their work without a quality check beforehand.

Focus of the online gallery

The focus of our portfolio is on Concrete Art, Colour Painting and abstract, non-objective art, supplemented by selected photography and Digital Art. The gallery program shows works of selected emerging artists and established artists. Not the age of the artists but the quality of the positions is decisive. Currently you will find works by Melanie Balsam-Parasole, Karolin Schwab, Michael Craik and Sabine Tress Do you have any questions about processing, shipping or the general procedure? Then take a look at our FAQ or write us an email.

Contemporary Art, Modern Art, Minimal Art

What is concrete art? Without wanting to define the term too narrowly, we would like to try a description of how we understand Concrete Art, because this also corresponds to the self-image of our online gallery.

Beginnings of Concrete Art

The beginning is at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1910 Wassily Kandinsky spoke of “Absolute Painting”, in the Netherlands the “De Stijl Movement” was formed in 1917 with Piet Mondrian and van Doesburg. Max Bill organized the first international exhibition of concrete art in Basel in 1944.

Difference between Concrete Art and Abstract Art

The essence of Concrete Art is that it does not attempt to depict or abstract reality, but concentrates on colours, shapes, surfaces or lines. What you see is what is meant. Quite concretely, in fact. Concrete art is an immediate art form based on sensual experience, which can be grasped without any prior knowledge, but necessarily also without prejudice.

Digital Art and Contemporary Art

The strict mathematical-geometrical aspect, which was still propagated by Max Bill, for example, has changed over time, as has the whole of Concrete Art. Concrete art continues to develop, is alive and seeks new paths. In the process, interesting interactions or connections with other directions of contemporary art such as Minimal Art or Digital Art are created. We want to take this development into account in our selection of artists and in the program design.
